French-influenced Bedroom and Sitting Room
  Bedroom Before

This project is the one that made me want to pitch all my own contemporary stuff and start all over. My clients travel to Europe several times a year and the wife, being from the South, appreciates a sense of history and tradition in her surroundings. They were seeking to transform their bedroom and sitting room into a comfortable, sumptous, soft sanctuary.

My concept for this job germinated from a color I had never used before.....a blue, a muted French blue. I paired it with a heavy cream and gold with accents of stronger color.

The Stroheim silk drapes are trimmed in Scalmandre silk braid and the fabric is milled in Europe. The Rose tapestry is a historical pattern from Old World Weavers. The furniture is of the finest craftsmanship and materials.

The wallpaper is from an old English mill and the soft wool carpet has a French wreath motif.

Whenever I traveled to France I collected antique objets d' arte for my clients to hang on the walls or place on Venetian glass mirrored trays. Upon completion, my clents said that they could never move. How could they pack up this ambience and take it with them?
